On November 20, 2004, the founder of Multimedia Nova Corporation, Dan Iannuzzi, passed away in Rome during a business trip. Immediately after his passing, we posted an ‘in memoriam’ web site to try as best we could document the incredible life and accomplishments of an extraordinary Canadian. If you would like to learn more about Dan, we invite you to visit his memoriam web site here .

Since Dan’s passing, the outpouring of condolences and well wishes from thousands of people here in Canada and all over the world has been touching to both his immediate family, and the family of his employees Multimedia Nova.

There have also been numerous posthumous honours bestowed upon Dan, three in particular. In January of 2005, the City of Toronto unanimously approved a street named in Dan’s honour – Dan Iannuzzi Street – as well as the designation of a city park – Dan Iannuzzi Park.

On June 2, 2005, at an Italy Republic Day celebration in Toronto, Dan was posthumously recognized by both Italy’s Prime Minister and President with the title of Commendatore, in recognition of his efforts towards multiculturalism and the creation of mass media in the service of all ethnic groups, not just Italian-Canadians.

On November 16, 2006, York University and Multimedia Nova announced the creation of a bursary to commemorate the contributions and accomplishments of our late founder, The Daniel Andrea Iannuzzi Memorial Award in Italian Studies.  The bursary will be given to a York University Faculty of Arts student majoring in Italian Studies entering their second year of study with an achieved minimum cumulative 6.0 (B) grade point average in their first year of study.
