"Advertisers told to reach out to increasingly diverse
Canada" - Toronto Star, March 17, 2006
In an article by the Toronto Star's Nicholas Keung,
Immigration/Diversity Reporter, he reports on a new study that suggests
"traditional 'one-size-fits-all' media and advertising campaigns will no longer
work in Canada with our increasingly diverse consumer market." Mr. Keung
goes on to write that the study, Diversity in Canada, conducted by
Toronto-based Solutions Research Group, "investigated media use among ethnic
groups and found that 'advertising dollars may not be going to where it's
supposed to go to activate these audiences." The study's author, Kaan
Yigit, was quoted as saying "Canadian advertisers have to think cosmopolitan.
We are not talking about several thousands of people. In markets like
Toronto and Vancouver, we are talking about people in the number of millions who
advertisers may be missing out."

Toronto’s Premier Spanish Language Newspaper Solidifies its hold - June 2005

The newspaper, which ran its inaugural edition June 2, 2001, will now circulate 20,000 copies for sale each day, fully 4 times more than its closest competitor. Additionally, the dealer network carrying Correo Canadiense and selling it to the public has been increased to over 2,000. The new circulation increases Correo’s overall audience by almost 30 percent. It has been made possible by a program that offered complimentary ‘reading’ copies to select Churches, community centres and businesses. That program was initiated last January under the direction of Correo Canadiense’s Latin Community Liaison Myrna Kahan and members of the Latin American editorial team.
